
Mrs. Mawhorter has been working with individuals with disabilities for the past 29 years. The past 10 years has involved implementing assistive technology at various levels. She is a charter member of the WESELPA Special Education Teacher Technology Specialists (SETTS).
Currently an elementary school Assistant Principal, Donna continues to assist teams and individuals in assessing student assistive technology needs. Her teaching certifications are in Multiple Subject Education and Learning Disabilities. She has earned Masters of Arts degrees in Special Education and Administrative Services. She also holds certification in Assistive Technology through SETTS.
Donna has taught the Assistive Technology Cadre Certificate Program. She has presented on Low Cost AT at various locations. She has also been a presenter at CUE on the effective use of technology in the classroom.
Donna is an integral part of the Special Educators Technology Training Program in the Etiwanda School District, where teachers are learning about E-Portfolios and Assistive Technology in the Classroom. She has also won a Best Buy Teach grant for Solorio Elementary School.
Donna’s commitment and devotion for students with special needs is exceptional. Her passion is that all students, no matter what their ability/disability is, are successful in school.
